My Life as a Diver

I have to admitt that I consider myself a very lucky man, since at some point in my life I was given the opportunity to choose what is that I wanted to do for a living. All decisions involve good and bad things, and in my case there are more far more good things than the bad ones.

After being a succesful executive in one of the major music production companies in Mexico, I reached a point in my life where I realized that I needed something more close to Nature, for since I was a child I just loved the sea and the sense of adventure.

So I asked my boss for a sabbatical, and after it extended for 3 years, I called to thank him.

I went to Puerto Vallarta, the sunny and typical village at the sea, near Guadalajara. There I started to study all things related to scubadiving, and then I decided to become a PADI instructor.

To be a dive instructor is a big responsability, not only because your students lives are in your hands, but also because their lives may depend on what they will learn during the courses. As a dive instructor you have the opportunity to show people the use of the proper diving techniques and the theory behind diving, but must of all how to be a safe diver. To be aware of your limits, is to be a safe diver.

In order to accomplish my goal to become a PADI instructor, I moved to the wonderful Caribbean city of Cancun, just north of the splendid Mayan Riviera, a strip of beatiful and mysterious land at the Eastern seashore of the Yucatan peninsula, where the ancient Mayan culture gave us the magnificent ceremonial sites by the sea.

There I gained my PADI instructor status, some 4 years ago and from there, I wouldn't change a single minute in my life. Imagine: To work at the best scenario doing all the things that I love and even getting paid for it! That's why I consider myself to be a very very lucky guy.

You see, as a diver you get in direct contact with Nature, by observing the perfect balance reflected by Nature you learn about things that realy matter in life. This type of experiences are my reward and motivation.
